VIU Cowichan Place
This three-storey, 3,900m2, suspended concrete building was the first structure at the new campus and consists of classrooms, dry and web labs, multi-purpose room, theater, library, program resource & conference rooms, administrative spaces, and student service rooms.
Yellowridge acted as the Construction Manager, negotiating subtrades and ensuring the project budget and schedule was maintained.
The new Cowichan Campus of VIU is home to Vancouver Island’s largest green rood. The 40, 000 SF intensive/extensive green roof features interlocking brick paving, concrete slab paving, concrete and cedar benches, recycled plastic lumber planters with steel trellis’ and Gabriola Island-sourced boulder benches. All tree and vine planters have permanent irrigation with reclaimed water. The vast majority of plants accredited to green roof systems.
