Shas Ti Kelly Road Secondary
Prince George, BC
The Kelly Road Secondary School project involved replacing the existing school with a fully accessible, state-of-the-art building designed to accommodate up to 900 students. The two-storey, 9,636 m² structure features a steel frame, metal cladding with brick veneer, and a concrete slab-on-grade at level 1, with level 2 consisting of concrete ComSlab steel decking. The new school is built to LEED Gold standards.

The building includes a classroom and office block on the south side, with a large central atrium and a Learning Commons area at the west end. There are three specialized shop areas: auto, wood, and metal.

The arts facilities are extensive, featuring a two-storey theatre with elevated concrete seating and a two-storey music room. The interior boasts ample natural light and large, open collaborative learning spaces that support B.C.’s new curriculum. The school also includes a large gym with three basketball courts. In terms of design, the school incorporates a striking cedar feature wall in the atrium, along with a three-storey clerestory and skylight.

The final occupancy permit was granted on schedule, ensuring a timely move-in for the owner. The existing school was demolished once the new facility was completed.
