Maple Ridge Firehall No. 4
Maple Ridge, BC
The Maple Ridge Fire Hall No. 4 & Training Ground will serve the immediate and future public safety needs by supporting fire department service delivery throughout the City. Included within the project is a training ground that is equipped to train both new recruits while also maintaining the skills of existing fire fighters. The building is designed and constructed to offer a minimum of 40% more energy efficiency than the standard requirements by Code, resulting in annual operational savings. The goal for this project was to have 90% of the above grade structure to be built out of wood. The building is wood-framed, with an extensive use of glulam beams. The glulam beams were left exposed to showcase the use of wood architecturally and structurally. This will increase the energy efficiency of the envelope and is a big achievement for post disaster buildings.
